Casa da Memória Raída Museum

The Casa da Memória Raída is a private cultural space in downtown Bonito, devoted to the history of the town and the Serra da Bodoquena. It is not a nature tour: it is a short visit in the early evening to understand who lived in the region before tourism. It works well for a free evening or a day when rain has canceled your tour.

What is there

The collection brings together photographs of early residents, objects that belonged to pioneers, pieces and art by the region’s Indigenous peoples, such as the Kadiwéu and the Terena, and a library with material on local history. A small shop sells regional crafts.

The heart of the visit is the house’s little theater, where the storytelling sessions take place, with poetry, stories and musical instruments. The space also screens documentaries about the region.

Hours and prices

According to Bonito’s Tourism Department, sessions take place on Thursdays and Fridays at 6pm and 7pm, and other days can be booked. The sources we consulted disagree on whether there is a charge: one says the visit is free, another mentions a ticket or contribution. That is why the info box on this page shows no price. Who it suits

Anyone who wants a cultural outing in town, travelers over 60, families and those without a car. The house is a few blocks from the main street.
