Best Tours in Bonito, Brazil: Our 2026 Editorial Ranking

Bonito has more than 40 attractions, and nobody does them all. This ranking puts the tours in the order we recommend fitting them into a first trip. It is not a list of the “most beautiful”: it weighs the experience, the cost, the distance and how many types of traveler each tour works for. Prices are 2026 references for an adult voucher, in Brazilian reais (BRL), without transfer, and should be confirmed when you book.

A few local terms first. “Flutuação” (floating) is Bonito’s signature activity: a guided river snorkel in which you drift face down with the current, in a wetsuit and life vest, without swimming. A “balneário” is a river beach, a riverside day-use spot for swimming. And every tour is booked in advance through a licensed agency, which issues a voucher at a fixed price under Bonito’s single-voucher system.

Our criteria

Each tour was scored on four points:

1. Uniqueness: is there anything similar in the region or in Brazil?
2. Value per hour: how much of the day the tour takes and what it delivers in that time.
3. Logistics: distance, dirt roads, and whether it can be combined with another tour in the same area.
4. Reach: does it work for families, couples, travelers over 60 and first-timers, or only for one profile?

The top 5 for a first trip

These five cover what defines Bonito: river snorkeling in transparent water, a cave, wildlife and a waterfall. They fit into three or four days if you group them by area: Rio da Prata and Buraco das Araras on the same day (south), the Blue Lake Cave in the morning (west), Mimosa and Nascente Azul on the same day (north).

Numbers 6 to 12: if you have more days

The Anhumas Abyss is sixth not because it is less memorable, but because of the cost: the price of its snorkeling option pays for two or three of the tours above. If you can afford it, it is the most unforgettable experience in the region. It requires a check-in at the office in town the day before.

Short, cheap tours to round out your days

• Municipal River Beach: R$ 70 to R$ 98, 7 km from town, a good Plan B for rain or a rest day.
• Formoso River boat tour: R$ 190 to R$ 220, about 1.5 hours, from age 5.
• Projeto Jiboia: about R$ 80, every day at 7pm, no minimum age.
• Barra do Sucuri: R$ 269 to R$ 348, a more affordable river snorkel for large families.
• Serra da Bodoquena Waterfalls: R$ 340 to R$ 440, worth it if you are already heading to Bodoquena.

The ranking changes by traveler profile

Families with children aged 4 to 6: swap Rio da Prata for the Sucuri River or Nascente Azul, and the Blue Lake Cave (minimum 6 years and 1.30 m tall) for São Miguel Cave. See Bonito with kids.

Common mistakes when choosing

• Scheduling two full-day tours in opposite directions. Rio da Prata (south) and Boca da Onça (north) on the same day add up to more than 200 km of driving.
• Doing four river snorkels. From the third one on, the experience repeats itself.
• Leaving your main tour for the last day. If rain clouds the river, there is no date left to reschedule.
• Comparing agencies only on voucher price. The voucher price is fixed; the difference lies in the transfer and the cancellation terms.
